Chris Wakelin and Michael Holt produced two of the standout performances at the Shenzhen Open, both recording emphatic 5-0 victories to secure their places in the last 16.
Wakelin swept aside former World Champion Stuart Bingham, while Holt continued his impressive run in China with a whitewash of Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.
Elsewhere, Mark Selby and Shaun Murphy produced some exceptional break-building, World Champion Wu Yize fought back to progress and Ricky Walden continued his strong week with another deciding-frame victory.
Wakelin Sweeps Aside Bingham
Chris Wakelin delivered a commanding performance to defeat Stuart Bingham 5-0 and comfortably secure his place in the last 16.
The world number 12 was in excellent scoring form throughout the contest, compiling breaks of 77, 64, 72 and 65 as Bingham struggled to gain a foothold in the match.
Wakelin will now face Neil Robertson for a place in the quarter-finals, with the Englishman looking to reach that stage of a ranking event for the first time this season.
Having spent significant time competing in China during the early stages of the campaign, Wakelin has spoken positively about becoming increasingly comfortable playing away from home and embracing the opportunities that come with competing in front of the Chinese snooker fans.
Holt Continues Impressive Shenzhen Run
Michael Holt also booked his place in the last 16 in convincing fashion, completing a 5-0 victory over Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.
Holt arrived in Shenzhen following a difficult run of results but has responded strongly, initially defeating Xiao Guodong before producing another excellent performance against Un-Nooh.
Breaks of 60, 67, 62 and 54 helped Holt race through the contest without dropping a frame.
His reward is a last-16 meeting with Kyren Wilson, who secured his progression with a 5-2 victory over David Gilbert.
Selby Fires in Three Centuries
Mark Selby produced one of the strongest scoring displays of the tournament so far as he defeated Jackson Page 5-1.
The China Open champion compiled three centuries of 132, 135 and 138, alongside a break of 77, during a dominant performance.
Selby will now face Stephen Maguire, who ended David Grace’s Shenzhen Open campaign with a 5-1 victory.
Grace had produced one of the results of the previous round when he defeated four-time World Champion John Higgins 5-4, but Maguire proved too strong as he comfortably progressed to the last 16.
Murphy Produces Scoring Masterclass
Shaun Murphy was another player in impressive break-building form, recording a 5-1 victory over Hossein Vafaei.
Murphy compiled breaks of 132, 76, 64, 78 and 112 during an excellent display to book his place in the next round.
He will face Elliot Slessor for a place in the quarter-finals after Slessor recorded an impressive 5-2 victory over Barry Hawkins.
Wu Fights Back to Progress
World Champion Wu Yize recovered from a difficult start to defeat Xu Si 5-3 in their all-Chinese encounter.
Xu established an early 2-0 advantage, but Wu responded strongly and produced breaks of 132, 126, 87 and 66 on his way to completing the comeback.
Wu will now face Ricky Walden in what promises to be an intriguing last-16 contest.
Walden Edges Carter in Deciding-Frame Thriller
Ricky Walden continued his impressive Shenzhen Open campaign with another dramatic victory, defeating English Open champion Ali Carter 5-4.
Walden had already produced an excellent comeback to knock out home favourite Ding Junhui 5-4 in the previous round and once again found himself involved in a deciding-frame battle.
This time, a crucial break of 61 in the ninth frame helped the three-time ranking event winner secure another important victory.
The result takes Walden into the last 16 of a ranking event for the first time since the 2025 English Open, where World Champion Wu Yize now stands between him and a place in the quarter-finals.
Last 16 Takes Shape in Shenzhen
Elsewhere, Yuan Sijun comfortably progressed through an all-Chinese encounter against Fan Zhengyi, recording a 5-1 victory to set up a meeting with Zak Surety.
With the field continuing to narrow, the Shenzhen Open is now approaching the business end of the tournament.
Wakelin will take on Neil Robertson, Holt faces Kyren Wilson, Selby meets Maguire and Murphy goes up against Slessor, while Wu and Walden will battle for another of the available quarter-final places.
After a tournament already featuring a number of high-profile exits and dramatic deciding-frame finishes, there promises to be plenty more action to come as the remaining players continue their pursuit of the Shenzhen Open title.
