Ace in the Pack Makes Perfect Start to the New Season
Judd Trump has claimed the 2026 Shanghai Masters title after defeating defending champion Kyren Wilson 11-6 in a high-quality final, securing his second triumph at the prestigious invitational event.
The victory marks the ideal start to the new campaign for the world number one, who produced a series of outstanding performances throughout the tournament to lift the trophy and collect the £210,000 winner’s prize.
Dominant Run to the Title
Trump looked in superb form from the opening round, defeating Barry Hawkins before producing a sensational 6-0 whitewash over John Higgins in the quarter-finals. He then booked his place in the final with an impressive 10-6 victory over reigning World Champion Wu Yize.

Trump extended his advantage to 8-3 when play resumed before Wilson responded with a superb break of 103 to begin mounting a comeback. Another hard-fought frame reduced the deficit to 8-5, but the turning point came in the 14th frame.
After a tense battle on the colours, Trump produced a superb brown before clearing to the black to steal the frame. He followed that with another crucial frame to move within one of victory.
Wilson refused to surrender and fired in a brilliant 134 clearance to keep the contest alive, but Trump remained composed. Contributions of 34 and 43 in the next frame proved enough to secure an 11-6 victory and the Shanghai Masters crown.
Revenge for 2015 Defeat
The result also carries extra significance for Trump, who avenges his narrow defeat to Wilson in the 2015 Shanghai Masters final. That meeting saw Wilson claim the first ranking title of his career, but this time it was Trump who came out on top to strengthen his head-to-head advantage between the two players.
It is also Trump’s second Shanghai Masters success, having previously lifted the trophy in 2024, and further reinforces his reputation as one of the sport’s most consistent performers on the biggest stages.
Positive Signs for Both Players
While Trump celebrates another major title and an excellent start to the season, Wilson leaves Shanghai with plenty of encouragement despite falling short in the final.
Victories over Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Williams and Zhao Xintong demonstrated the defending champion’s quality and suggest he will once again be among the leading contenders when the ranking events get underway.
For Trump, the week’s performances provide an early statement of intent as he looks to maintain his position at the top of the world rankings and build momentum for another successful season.
